Suleka’s love of cooking began 47 years ago when her mother and sister opened a restaurant in Thailand as their family business. Her entrepreneurial mother began with a street cart selling noodles in front of their house as a means to support their family.

The Sacramento Area Sustainable Business Program promotes businesses that adopt environmentally friendly practices, prevent pollution, and conserve resources. The Annual Awards honors the top performers in the program who have implemented outstanding achievements in Energy Conservation, Water Conservation, Pollution Prevention, Solid Waste Reduction, Green Building, and Transportation/Air Quality.

In 2012, Food Literacy Center worked with the California legislature to declare September as Food Literacy Month to raise awareness about the need for cooking and nutrition education for kids.
